The Poon Hill trek 3 nights 4 days brings you to the beauty of the Annapurna Himalayas. This short but extraordinary trek is perfect for any type of traveler and is graded as an easy trek/hike. The goal of this trek is to reach the Poon Hill viewpoint, about a 45 minutes upwards hike from the Ghorepani village. The Poon Hill trek 3 nights 4 days starts from Pokhara with a scenic one and half hour drive to Naya Pul (New), followed by a nature hike towards Ulleri. The trail to Ulleri is stunning and filled with fauna and flora, passing Birethanti and challenging the 3300 stone steps that lead up to Ulleri. From here it’s a beautiful trek upwards to Ghorepani. The village got its famous name due to its water (pani) availability for ancient travelers on horse (ghore). Also famous for its abundant rhododendron forests, Ghorepani is truly amazing. Mostly inhabited by the friendly Magars and Gurungs, Ghorepani villages bursts of life and culture. After enjoying the views of Poon Hill and staying for the night at Ghorepani we head back down from a slightly different route. We will be heading for Ghandruk village the second largest settlement in the Annapurna region. Ghandruk is filled with guest houses, souvenir shops and local restaurants. In Ghandruk we can also visit the famous Gurung museum filled with antiquities of the Gurung people. From Ghandruk it’s a beautiful trail downwards back to Naya Pul (New Bridge) from where we end the trek and drive back to Pokhara.

Day 1, Pokhara to Naya Pul (New Bridge) by car and trek to Ulleri
 
After our hotel breakfast we make a final check of our gear and drive from Pokhara to Naya Pul, also known as New Bridge. This one and half hour drive is full of amazing scenery and Mt. Machhapuchhre is always in view, watching over us. Naya Pul a gateway to the Annapurnas and a first station for many travelers and trekkers. We take a lunch in Naya Pul to get all the necessary energy that we need to start our journey to Poon Hill. The trail to Ulleri our first destination is quite beautiful and filled with all kinds of natural miracles. After a few hours of following this green trail we reach Birithanthi village where we can take a small rest. Our last challenge of the day is climbing the approx. 3300 stone steps that lead us to Ulleri Village. The view while climbing these steps is absolutely amazing and we can already see some off the giants that reside in the Annapurna’s. Reaching Ulleri will give us a well-deserved victory feeling and the atmosphere here is truly peaceful. We enjoy dinner while going over tomorrows route and head in for the night.
 
 
Day 2, Ulleri trek to Ghorepani
 
Today after breakfast we head for Ghorepani, the trail leads us upwards through lush forests and streaming creeks. Being less strenuous then the previous day, this day we get see some exclusive mountain views of the Annapurna South. Normally we should reach Ghorepani somewhere in the late afternoon. The village is bursting of life with Wi-Fi and pleasant guesthouses and restaurants. The scenery from Ghorepani is breathtaking and truly wonderful. The next day we’ll head up to Poon Hill!
 
Day 3, sunrise view at Poon Hill, Ghorepani Breakfast and trek to Ghandruk
 
At the early morning we prepare to hike up to the Poon Hill view point. It’s a 45 minutes upwards hike and it won’t be long before we can see the mighty Himalayan Mountains. As we take a rest and witness the warm sun appear over the Annapurna South, the feeling is indescribable. We can take the opportunity to make some memorable photos before we head back down to Ghorepani for breakfast. Having achieved the target of this beautiful trek we can head back via a slightly different route and head to Ghandruk village. The trail is pleasant and easy going and in the afternoon we reach the Gurung settlement of Ghandruk. Overnight stay at the guest house.
 
 
Day 4, Ghandruk to Naya Pul (New Bridge) and back to Pokhara by car
 
Today is our last day of trekking and after a delicious breakfast we prepare to head back to Naya Pul. Heading more downwards the trail reveals different views then as we headed upwards. Passing green forests, spotting some rare birds and flowers the trail back to Naya Pul is pleasant and natural. After reaching back at Naya Pul we can enjoy our lunch and wait for our car to drive us back to Pokhara and conclude the Poon Hill Trek.
