Poon hill is arguably Nepal’s second best view point after Kalapatthar. Short trekking in Annapurna region will take you to Poonhill.
Where is Poon hill?
Poon Hill is located in the busy Annapurna region. It exists to the south-west of Annapurna Mountain. Poon hill summit offers views of Annapurna Range, Fishtail Mountain, Nilgiri Mountain and Dhaulagiri Mountain. Poon hill can be climbed from two routes. One route stretches from Ghorepani while the other route continues through north. Ghorepani to Poon hill trekking is short but if you are going to try trekking to Poon hill from north, you need to be ready for a long climb of steep hill. You might experience slight difficulty in breathing if you follow the northern route.
You will pass through the scenic rhododendron forest that supports wildlife, cross the river and traverse local villages of Gurung and Magar ethnics. Homestay in Ghandruk is another reason that you should take Poon hill trek.
