The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek 8 nights and 9 days is a beautiful outdoor trek that brings you on a natural journey in Nepal. Visiting some of the popular highlights in the Annapurna region the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is perfect for those whole love the outdoors, beautiful natural views, cultural villages, and the occasional upwards hike. The beauty of Poonhill is the amazing sunset and sunrise view over the Annapurna Range, the scenic landscape is truly godly so make sure to bring your cameras for everlasting memories. The trek itself starts officially from Nayapul village located about 45 minutes from Pokhara Lakeside City and will take 5 days to reach back to Pokhara.
On the way to
Poon Hill, we pass by small and cultural villages, forests, rivers, and big settlements such as Ghorepani and Ulleri. The way up to Poon Hill is full of fauna and flora, small temples and Mani walls. Every step you take during the Ghorepani / Poon Hill trek brings you closer to the Himalayas and it feels as if you are one with the natural surroundings. Starting from Kathmandu we take an AC tourist bus driving to Pokhara. This lakeside city is one of the most beautiful cities in Nepal, locked between Fewa Lake, Mt Machhapuchhre or Fishtail Mountain, and the Annapurna Range. After a brief stay in this beautiful city, we head out by private transport to Nayapul from where we will start the trek. The trail brings us across amazing nature trails and the famous stone stairs that lead to Ulleri. The next day we head to Ghorepani the trail is mostly upwards filled with lush forests and vegetation, if we arrive in time we can head further towards Poon Hill and see one of the world’s most spectacular sunsets. Truly watching the warm sun slowly disappear behind the mighty Annapurna range is guaranteed to give u a lifelong memory of Nepal and the Himalayas. The next day we can witness the same but now we head up in the early morning for a magical sunrise. Having possibly walked this part the day before, the scenery is quite different. It will take about 45 minutes to reach Poon Hill and the trail is pleasant to walk on.
After reaching Poon Hill we can enjoy a cup of tea and take those memorable pictures. As the sun rises from behind the Annapurna Range we can witness its warm glow fills the entire area with light and life. It is really beautiful to behold how in a few short seconds an entire valley can change. After this amazing moment, we head back down to Ghorepani for our breakfast and prepare for our 2 days journey back to Pokhara.

Day 1: Kathmandu (1400 m) Arrival
After arriving at Tribhuvan Airport in Kathmandu, one of our representatives will be waiting to pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time you might want to take a walk around inside the center of Kathmandu, namely Thamel. Also called backpackers paradise Thamel is filled with small and big souvenir shops, boutiques, and charming restaurants. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.
Day 2: Kathmandu (1400 m) to Pokhara (827 m) by AC Tourist Bus
The next day, early in the morning, after having breakfast, we head to Pokhara by AC tourist bus. A scenic 6-hour drive takes you to the naturally beautiful city of Pokhara. After a short rest, you can relax and explore the city. In the evening, you can enjoy and witness spectacular views of the sunset on the Annapurna South, Himchuli, Machhapuchhre also known as the Fishtail Mountain, Dhaulagiri, and the countryside. Apart from this, you can also enjoy boating on Fewa Lake. Overnight at Pokhara.
Day 3: Pokhara to Nayapul (1070 m), Trek to Ulleri (2070 m)
The next morning, after an early breakfast, we drive towards Nayapul village the starting point of our trek. It will take about 45 minutes by private car to reach Nayapul and the Mt Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) will always look down on us. After you reach Nayapul, then we can officially begin our trek towards Ulleri. Heading through beautiful scenic surroundings, forest trails, and ascending stone steps that lead us next to Mani walls and vegetation. The 4-hour trek lets you witness the small Gurung settlements and beautiful forests of rhododendrons and finally, we reach Ulleri village where we stay for the night.
Day 4: Trek from Ulleri (2070 m) to Ghorepani (2874 m)
Today, after an early breakfast, we will depart from Ulleri and head towards Ghorepani which is situated at an altitude of 2874m. It’s around
6 hours of gentle hiking until we reach Ghorepani. On the way, we can visit the beautiful village Banthanti with wonderful views of the great Himalayas such as; Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, and other high-altitude mountain peaks. On the way to Ghorepani, the trail is filled with fauna and flora, scenic rhododendrons, and shadow forests, and listen to the different bird songs. If we have time then you can enjoy the impressive sunset from Poon Hill. You will stay overnight at
Ghorepani.
Day 5: Sunrise at Poon Hill (3210 m), Trek to Tadapani (2630 m)
Today, before early breakfast, we will head towards the top of Poon Hill which is situated at an altitude of
3210m. Poon Hill is very famous for its impressive sunrise and stunning mountain views such as; Dhaulagiri
(8167m), Tukuche Peak
(6920m), Mt. Annapurna
(8091m), Varaha Shikhar
(7847m), Annapurna South
(7219m), Annapurna III
(7855m), Machhapuchhre (Fishtail)
(6993m), Annapurna IV
(7525m), Lamjung Himal
(6931m) and so on. After the impressive sunrise and mountain views in Poon Hill and we will return to Ghorepani and head towards Tadapani which is situated at an altitude of 2650m. It takes around
5 hours to reach Tadapani and we will stay overnight at Tadapani.
Day 6: Trek from Tadapani (2630 m) to Ghandruk (1940 m)
Next morning, after having breakfast, we will make an easy trek towards Ghandruk through beautiful dense rhododendron, oak, and Sal forests along the side of the Kimrung Khola where different species of birds are richly habited. Continuing we will be ascending steeply towards Ghandruk village where will stay for the night.
Day 7: Trek from Ghandruk (1940 m) to New Bridge (1340 m), Drive to Pokhara (827 m)
Today, we will end our adventurous trek. After early breakfast, we will have a gentle trek towards New Bridge from where we will drive back to Pokhara. As we depart from New Bridge we can think back to our beautiful trek with the precious memories of our Poon Hill trek and its amazing scenery. After reaching back to the Lakeside city of Pokhara in the evening, you can once more explore the lakeside restaurant and souvenir shops. Stay overnight at Pokhara.
Day 8: Pokhara (827 m) to Kathmandu (1400 m) by AC Tourist Bus
Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will have a scenic drive back towards Kathmandu by AC tourist bus. We get beautiful views of different mountains, and cultural villages with beautiful surrounding scenes on the way. We stay overnight in Kathmandu.
